Alpha B Kirabira Email and Phone Number
As an experienced and driven entrepreneur my goal is to make a social impact in the community. I am given to social enterprise, making sure that all business that I start and do, do not only give opportunity for employment and meet the bottom line, but also have an arm to making a difference in the lives of children, women, education and the less fortunate in our community. I created Help Change My City (HCMC) out of a desire to support and nurture underprivileged youth in the Greater Vancouver Area. Through HCMC, troubled youth are given an opportunity to see their unique gifts and potential. Many of the young people we mentor grew up in difficult family circumstances, and our work centres around helping them build the confidence to become contributing, thriving members of their community. Our semi-annual Little Black Dress Gala hosts 2000 guests in Vancouver, Canada. It gives the local community an opportunity to get involved with HCMC. The gala is an elegant intersection of philanthropy, the arts, education, fashion, and support for the underprivileged youth that have the potential to shape our beautiful city. Youth and women are the primary focus of the Little Black Dress Gala, with proceeds going to support HCMC. Many forward thinking, philanthropic companies have taken advantage of our generous corporate sponsorship offer for this event. --> Contact us at ihelpchangemycity@gmail.com for more information, or visit the gala website at www.littleblackdressgala.ca for tickets and details!- We currently work in 22 schools in the Greater Vancouver Area- We work with a number of corporations whose philanthropic mission is in line with supporting local youth- We nurture and support the arts and performing arts through our projects and events- We run a program called Eats on the Streets, which provides food to homeless people living in -Vancouver’s downtown Eastside- We mentor youth to help them become flourishing members of their community

FounderTeachers Appreciation Gala Apr 2017 - PresentVancouver, Canada AreaPrincipals, Teachers and School Staff in our cities do so much for our children and we want to celebrate them and thank them as a community. Principals and Vice Principals promote the Gala to their staff and also see this FREE EVENT for the teachers and school staff as a team building and fun experience for the educators and school staff. This event is of no cost to the schools whatsoever. On this night they just dress up and come on out and enjoy the Gala because they already give so much for us. HCMC started the Teachers Appreciation Gala out of great interest and request from businesses and individuals who wanted to give back to education and teachers in the city where they live and do business. Businesses have seen this event as a great opportunity to bring exposure to their altruistic goals and show their ability to impact the community. We invite teachers from the cities to thank them for providing a safe place where our children can learn, grow and become good scholars and citizens. This event celebrates the teachers, helps boost their moral in times where there is so much violence happening in schools, encourages the arts in the lives of young people, brings businesses together and proceeds go to support HCMC youth programs within the city we live and do business. Businesses have chosen to partner with HCMC annually to give the teachers and school staff an elegant night for the work they do for our kids in our city. -

Director And Co-FounderShammah High School (Non-Profit) 2004 - PresentKampala, UgandaShammah High School is a non-profit secondary education institution for youth who have gone through Alpha and Omega Junior School and schools in surrounding areas. Most of the kids attending this school would not have another opportunity for secondary education. In many cases, the students are orphans, or are living in difficult family situations and coming from slums. We are grateful to be able to provide a quality education to the 600+ students we currently have enrolled in the school. We hope to continue building our community so that many more underprivileged youth in Uganda have the opportunity to learn, grow, and go to school.
