About Alan Pillar

Experienced, enthusiastic, and innovative mechanical designer with extensive experience in the detailed design of custom electronic enclosures and associated equipment. I have solid experience in the design of plastic injection moulded parts, cast aluminum, sheet metal, and machined components.Detailed assembly design at the card level as well as sub-system packaging level. I commonly collaborate with the hardware engineering and ECAD teams to optimize the PCB layout while also providing them with preferred positions of card-to-mechanical interfaces and component-restrict information. Negotiating with ECAD teams for mechanical space claim requirements is common practice.Post-layout design verification of the virtual PCB assembly for hot objects (clearance) and to validate clearances to the mechanical enclosure.Development of cable design documentation based on but not limited to PCB layout, connector selection, connector placement, connector pinout, signal/power requirements, and cable routing. Much of this is derived through collaboration with PCB designers, HW engineers, connector manufacturers, and of course the enclosure design which is my main role.Development of fiber optic cable raceways to maintain bend radii as well as fiber protection within the system.Specialties:CREO Design:Cast part DesignInjection moulded part designSheet metal designMCAD to ECAD to MCAD verificationSome Pro/Cable design experienceDesign for Manufacture and Assembly

Listed skills include Design For Manufacturing, Manufacturing, Pro Engineer, Product Development, and 19 others.
