• Collaborated with another intern on a salt corrosion project to determine performance of coatings under salt water conditions. Coatings with good and poor corrosion resistant were identified and reported to supervisors.• Monitored rate of salt corrosion on coatings by utilizing photoshop. Samples identified with more than 15% rust percentage were discarded. • Formulation of coatings by trying new raw materials aimed to potentially substitute current raw materials. Performance of new coatings were compared against current coatings and reported to supervisor.• Liaised with colleagues from other departments to schedule trainings and booking of instruments. Good rapport was built among colleagues. • Addressed problems faced during preparation of coatings to supervisor. Issues faced were solved after discussion with supervisor. • Organised rheology results of more than 10 different samples to compare their performances. The complied results were presented to supervisor. • Mentored new interns on operating of instruments and some practiced standard operating procedures. New interns were well adjusted to the new work environment after one week of mentoring.
