CurrentMr. Alspaugh specializes in patent portfolio management, copyrights, trademarks, and licensing issues for clients in a wide range of industries, including medical device, consumer products, sports, software applications, and automotive. His clients range from start-ups to well established corporations, both domestic and international. He has substantial experience in the preparation and prosecution of both U.S. and international patent applications.Mr. Alspaugh serves as General Counsel for various corporations in California. In that capacity, he provides counseling on corporate structure, compliance, regulatory, and he conducts IP due diligence in preparation for mergers and acquisitions and/or venture and capital investments.He frequently counsels clients on patent strategy, infringement issues, and intellectual property due diligence. He authors opinion letters regarding patent invalidity and non-infringement. Mr. Alspaugh also represents clients in the preparation and/or negotiation of contracts including: licensing contracts, non-disclosure agreements, collaboration agreements, consultation agreements, and SEC filings. And, he is a recognized expert in preparing investigational new drug applications, Class II and Class III medical device FDA submissions, and all aspects of cGMP implementation for drugs, medical devices, food, cosmetics, nutraceuticals, and dietary supplements.While in law school, Mr. Alspaugh worked as a patent agent and a law clerk at Haight Brown and Bonesteel LLP, a full-service litigation and business transaction firm. Mr. Alspaugh was then recruited to serve as patent counsel for Biosensors International, Inc., a medical device company traded on the Singapore Stock Exchange, specializing in the manufacture of innovative drug eluding heart stents. He has successfully launched two corporations that developed new drug eluting stents and bifurcation catheter technologies.
