Altug Basaran is a naval architect and the Principal of Ship Architects, Inc. in Daphne, Alabama. He serves as the corporate President. He is a registered professional engineer, licensed in the states of Alabama and Mississippi.He graduated from Istanbul Technical University with a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from University of New Orleans. He further holds a Master of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.After graduation, Altug was employed by Alaska Ship and Drydock, Inc. as a naval architect for four years. He was also the chief estimator and scheduler for the shipyard before he left Alaska to join Ship Architects, Inc.Altug brought his hands-on knowledge of shipbuilding and repair projects to Ship Architects, Inc. where he has been able to practice project planning, coordination, management, engineering, functional design and shipyard production support. He became the sole owner of Ship Architects, Inc. in January 2018.As part of his duties, Altug works closely with younger team members. He takes great pleasure in introducing the applications of naval architecture to young naval architects and interns.
