I am actively involved in several environmental and cultural projects in Peterborough, sometimes using my IT skills to help with websites, facebook pages and so on. I am a churchwarden at St John the Baptist Church in the centre of Peterborough and I spend much of my time organising and promoting concerts and other events there or representing St John's during the planning of civic and community events. I also enjoy photography, writing and performing drama and poetry, and I am a keen cook and gardener. I have a degree in mathematics and had a keen interest in computational group theory, fractal and other geometry, chaos theory, and finite state automata. After giving up full time work I spent several years developing my own mathematical software. My work has been cited in mathematical journals, and in 2011 I was invited to an international conference at the University of Warwick. I began my career in 1984, as a full time software developer/architect for Datafit Ltd, where I helped develop the DP4 ADE. I was the principal developer of QAB, which rapidly became the main development environment for DP4 applications. During the 1990s DP4 became widely used all over the world and I travelled widely to give training and consultancy on using DP4. After various changes of company structure I became an employee of Itim, where I continued to develop the DP4 platform. I have been a self-employed IT consultant/contractor since 2006 but continued to design and develop software for Itim until 2014 and continued to support and assist Itim employees with software maintenance until August 2023. I have also also worked with many other organisations who use DP4 including the HMRC, DVLA, SSP, and Moto. Please don't attempt to connect with me on LinkedIn unless you have established contact with me some other way first.
