I am an experienced Professor with a history of working in the higher education industry. Graduated in Biology at PUCCamp in 1983 (Campinas-SP) and PhD in Chemical Ecology at University of Southampton in 1991 (England-UK), Post-doctorate at University of Viçosa (1993) and James Cook University, Australia (2013). I am currently Full Professor at the Department of Parasitology, ICB, Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) and advisor in postgraduate courses in Parasitology and Professional Master's in Technological Innovation and Intellectual Property. I was a member of the Advisory and Evaluation Committee of the National Dengue Control Program (PNCD) during 2003-2008. I have 22 years of experience in developing innovative and disruptive technologies for the mosquito Aedes aegypti surveillance at large scale and control technologies, which was successfully used in over 150 Brazilian cities, reducing dengue cases and cost-benefit (For each US$ 1 invested, USD$ 6 saved). I am founder of the biotechnology "spin-off" company Ecovec-Rentokil (Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil) and also founder and business associate of BioGents AG (Regensburg, Germany).I received two international awards for innovation technology: (1) "Tech Award Museum", Technology for the Benefit of Humanity, in San Jose (Silicon Valley, California, USA) and (2) "Edison Awards - Innovations & Innovators (Chicago, IL , USA) I also received the José Costa Award from Fundação Dom Cabral (MG), as the best innovative technology of the State of MG in the Health area. I am inventor of 15 patents, which 7 are licenced in Brazil and 3 worldwide. My hobbies are playing guitar, gastronomy, wine tasting, making short-independent Film and documentary.
