Alvaro is an independent strategy consultant and former C-Level executive who is passionate about scaling companies and leading them through their digital transformation journey. With 17 years of international experience in Chile, Peru, and the United States, he has worked for private, publicly traded, and state-owned enterprises across the Retail, Technology, Media, and Banking industries. Notably, he spent 7 of these years reporting directly to Boards of Directors.Most recently, he as was General Manager of Compraqui, a BancoEstado & SumUp's joint venture in Chile, where he was tasked with building the company from the ground-up. Prior to this, he was co-founder and Managing Director of Magnolia, a cross-border online store that offered highly curated women’s apparel to customers in Latin America. Before founding Magnolia, Alvaro worked for Groupon Peru as its Head of Ecommerce, where he managed the team that built the consumer goods operation in the country. Earlier, he spent three years as Director of Marketing & Sales at Veranda Entertainment, a new-media start-up in Los Angeles, California, and started his career at Sony Chile, developing the company’s trade marketing materials. He has also been a guest speaker at over ten New Media and E-commerce conferences in Chile, France, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, and the U.S.Alvaro holds an MBA from IE Business School, studied Merchandising at UCLA, and graduated as class valedictorian with a B.S. in Industrial Design from UNAB.
