DrivinApp is an online platform that connects ‘drivin' schools with potential students. Basically our startup was a market place for driving schools. During that year and a half I had different roles, from software development to digital marketing and from talking with customers and providers to talk with investors in order to raise money.I had to define what technologies were used, business strategies in conjunction with my partner and development planning, do the prioritization with the team, do code reviews, design user interfaces flows and full stack coding. For that I had to continuously reinvent myself in different disciplines. I learnt was Growth hacking means, how to apply different techniques from engineering to marketing, testing different ideas and features that could take Drivin to the next level. Regarding to coding I started building our platform using Node.js for 3 months, while I was learning about it, but as soon as we got interest from investors and a need to quickly go to market I rebuilt it using Ruby on Rails in 3 weeks. The decision was made in order to minimize the risk and costs given that I have almost 10 years of experience using Rails. After our launch our team got a bit bigger and we were able to build a piece of software that I’m proud of. I would define it as robust and very flexible which allowed us to make changes all the time but at the same time have no tech issues.Another skill developed was digital Marketing. I knew almost nothing about it but as it was a need for our company I took a course about Marketing and Google Ads (our main Marketing channel). This was one of the factors that made me wake up and realize how important marketing is for any c2b company. Now I can at least ask the right questions regarding customer acquisition. This experience gave the insights of how different is to create a company based on services (like VAIRIX) to another one based on a product or platform (market place like DrivinApp).

I co-founded VAIRIX when I was 24 years old. This was my first real experience as an entrepreneur beside my other experiences of working as a freelance on small projects.Here I learnt so many things from different business domains to different technologies, but the most important ones are working with different people while being not only the team leader but also a friend and someone you can count on whenever you need.I also learnt what hard work means, and if you committed to something you are gonna do everything on your behalf to make it happen. I sent many business proposals, negotiated contracts and also managed client relations. I had to hire employees and sadly had to fire some as well.I participated in more than 25 projects with different roles. In some as a software developer, others as a code reviewer and team leader, and others as a Scrum Master (after getting the scrum master certification).Ruby on Rails was the main technology used in most of the projects but I also used Sinatra, Java and Javascript frameworks (like NodeJs, ReactJs, Ember and AngularJs). Besides the development of the project I was in charge of the servers configuration and deployment on different linux distributions, but mostly debian based.I participated and led almost every sprint planning, retrospective meeting and demos with the client which gave me expertise in the practice of Agile methodologies. This was a unique experience for my professional career where I learnt lots and met great people.
