College Bound is a pre-collegiate enrichment and support program offered to a diverse group of 50-60 students from three Boston Public High Schools. Its mission is to empower students to become positive change agents in their schools and communities. Through a Social Justice and STEM lens, students learn about a variety of important issues impacting their communities. Along with my co-teacher, I teach fifteen 9th grade students about the challenges that sit at the intersection of education, race, class, language, culture, ethnicity, gender, age, immigration status, ability and sexuality. Our classroom goal is to develop an identity of the empowered "Self" through writing, reading, discussion, spoken word, music, and other interactive lessons twice a month.

The Charles F. Donovan Urban Teaching Scholars program is an intensive one-year Masters in Education, M.Ed., program leading to teacher licensure, that seeks to prepare K-12 teachers to work effectively with students and families in urban schools throughout the country. Through a diverse cohort of up to 30 nationally recruited graduate students, the program builds on specific areas of study with interactive urban education seminars, critical inquiry research, social justice education, and community building that is responsive to the academic and socio-cultural needs of urban youth and their families. My pre-and-full-practicum was seated at Brighton High School as a World History II teacher.
