Analytical research chemist working in the area of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). This position has involved utilizing solution and solid state NMR techniques as well as integrating other analytical techniques to solve problems associated with fibers, coatings and advanced materials of interest to DuPont. Some of these problems include curing of clear coats used in automotive finishes, structure development is SiC fibers, impurities present in synthetic routes to new monomers used for advanced materials and understanding of surface treatments and properties for TiO2 particles.Project Leadership:− Directed capital project, specifying design, construction, installation and staffing of multi-function Research and Development Laboratories at DuPont’s Research and Development centers in Hyderabad, India and Shanghai, China.− Led capital project to specify, purchase and install 8 high-field NMR systems ($4M), replacing 5 obsolete systems improving capability, reliability of DuPont’s NMR function.Process Automation:− Developed and maintained software to collect and transfer NMR instrumentation usage data to Labware Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), improving metrics for instrument utilization and billing accuracy for customer usage.− Developed and maintained software to automatically transfer data from tensile testing instrumentation to process control computers, eliminating manual transfer of data and improving real-time process control for product release. Software was adopted globally by DuPont Fibers businesses.
