Senior Project Engineer
Current• Development and procurement of the $2 billion Corridor Packages of the $13 billion Melbourne Airport Rail Project, which consists of existing ARTC tracks realignment and a new pair of 6-km MTM tracks with the second tallest bridge in Victoria.Responsibilities• Integrate engineering, cost, constructability, land planning and environment, communications and stakeholder relations across the Corridor Packages to develop detailed scope, requirements, cost, program and construction staging.• Provide specialist advice for tender evaluation on cost, quantities, risks, program, and specifications.• Coordinate utility protection / relocation works in the Corridor with the Early Works Package (over 30 crossings of gas, jet fuel, water, sewer, power, and communication assets), to minimise cost and program impacts on Corridor Packages from internal and external changes.• Lead the Corridor package teams and consultants in the review of Early Works Package utilities scope, design, construction plans, and program to ensure Corridor requirements are satisfied.• Develop and verify works staging and productivity of various scope elements such as service relocations, drainage, jet fuel pipeline recoating, maintenance access path, and retaining and noise walls to identify program risks and opportunities.• Provide leadership and professional guidance to graduate engineers in all facets of the project.Achievements• Conducted a detailed feasibility study on an alternative solution to insert a DN1800 drainage pipe into an adjacent to-be-decommissioned underpass instead of a new tunnel bore under tracks. The alternative solution has been incorporated into the reference design with an expected direct cost benefit of up to $2 million.• Led the assessment and change implementation of an alternative solution to separate proposed MTM and ARTC drainage networks, reducing risk of design, construction, operational and approval interfaces between multiple Corridor Packages.
