Develop the sales, marketing and reservations capability to get the maximum value from Tour Operator contracts covering the top target markets. Ensure maximal utilization of 450 rooms and amenities across 4 resorts.• Leveraged strong relationships and creative marketing such that as of September 2021, all resorts are running at above average country occupancy; revenues are ahead of plan.• Drove ~8% annual revenue growth from 2009 (4 resorts) to 2016 (3 resorts, and loss of 100 rooms). Decreased revenue losses in 2017 through 2019 after over 200 prime rooms were periodically taken off the market for renovations at 3 resorts and a new resort was developed over a period of 18 months. • Used 10+ years of market, Tour Operator, product packaging, pricing, and utilization data (and other metrics) to develop the analytics for revenue management. This database and analytics continue as the foundation for planning, budgeting, pricing, contracting, sales forecasting, and scenario planning in the Maldives. Additionally, this database provides valuable insights on seasonal variations in demand by market, our ability to plan for and deliver on regional client tastes and preferences, price variations relative to packages, and extracurricular activities.• Implemented other innovative ideas to drive revenue: “resort-within-a-resort,” Virtual Reality resort tours, and a record-breaking social media marketing and monitoring program. -
Assistant Vice President - Head Of Contracting (Maldives & Sri Lanka)Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts Jul 2013 - Oct 2018Colombo 02, LkResponsible for contracting with major international Tour Operators on behalf of the 12 operating resorts in Sri Lanka and the Maldives with a total inventory of over 1300 rooms. Collaborate with board of directors and C-Suite to identify new markets and Tour Operators to meet annual revenue growth and profitability goals. On-going analysis of sales and client satisfaction to deliver consistent product offering and experience for clients. • Restructured the overall approach, internal systems, and processes to drive a more timely, efficient and effective contracting process. Using years of and experience from regular monitoring, implemented a ‘Tour Operator Prioritization System’ to negotiate contracts based on market potential and each operator’s unique value propositions. Monitored room production and collaborated with senior managers within each resort to deliver on customer experience, and to stimulate growth of bookings, room nights and revenue. The new contracting approach was credited with generating over 50% of company’s revenue.• Among notable contracts was a Guarantee agreement through two Charter Operations covering the UK and Nordic market with the world’s largest Tour Operator. Struck deals with Tour Operators in several key markets including Russia, CIS, and Germany• Grew the foreign Tour operator segment revenue for Sri Lanka by 30% annually during 2013-2017. Grew market share from 9% to 17% over the same period. -
