Assigned to various clients in the public and private sectors in multiple roles and engagements which included: -• Project Consultant and consultant team member to the Western Cape Government, South Africa on developing the implementation plan and business case to design and build the data centre and big data facility for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project. The SKA Project is an international project which aims to build the world’s largest radio telescope. Alvin’s role was to research the new ways of designing a super-efficient data centre with the latest innovations in cooling, electricity generation and structural designs.• Programme Manager for a large financial service (4000 employees, 350 branches, 10 million clients) in the banking industry to define the requirements, conduct a business process re-engineering exercise with the intention of transforming their Enterprise Resource Planning systems. Alvin led a team of 12 specialists’ consultants who were responsible for defining the business case, the business requirements specifications, the information and technology architecture and the procurement documents (RFI, RFP, Evaluation toolkit).• Principal Consultant engagement with a mobile/fixed client to define a digital transformation strategy, architecture and roadmaps with emphasis on transforming the organisation from legacy products to digital products such as cloud products, hosting and MPLS/VPN services.• Business Development and Technology Executive or an IOT start-up in responding to RFI and tenders for IOT applications such as electricity metering, water metering and asset tracking from public and private sector clients.
