Distribution ConsultantMiddle East Broadcasting Center Sep 2012 - Sep 2017DubaiAfter taking the opportunity to pursue the management role of LIME MEDIA, I was asked to commit to the role of group distribution consultant. This involved overseeing a range of commercial deals, and monitoring the distribution department. I directly contributed to the growth of the business, and in fact managed the business from a backseat position. I greatly enjoyed working alongside my successors. -
Director Of DistributionMiddle East Broadcasting Center Jun 2006 - Sep 2012Beside my role as director of distribution I have taken the lead on the mammoth task of managing the group transitioning to High Definition Broadcasting. This was indeed a major turning point for the company, and has had an important legacy changing both infrastructure and workflow. Our goal was to create HD channels for commercial licensing, whilst managing the critical task of transitioning to HD format, and maintaining the existing operations for more than 20 TV services. - The HD project involved managing various department operations during the transition, writing technical workflows, and managing vendors and service providers. It required in-depth technical knowledge, and commercial and financial decision making. We were managing risks, taking the group to a then unknown new business model. the HD transition was a massive success. This is manifested best on the group’s profit books, which boast tens of millions of dollars in licensing deals, all created off the back of the new HD services.

Head Of Broadcast NetworkMiddle East Broadcasting Center Feb 2005 - Jul 2006This was a key turning point in my exciting career. Management gave me the opportunity to build on my achievements while running the broadcast network. I developed a true commercial model for group content distribution and licensing.I managed the group’s entire linear and non-linear content licensing model. The new business model aligned content acquisition with content distribution operations. I created a model for licensing free to air television channels and to local and international TV operators and service providers. - During my time here, I also pioneered the group's first video on demand and OTT services which came to be known as Shahid.net. The group is now a leader in this field.

Network ManagerMiddle East Broadcasting Center Jun 2003 - May 2005Dubai - United Arab EmirtesAs head of the group broadcast network, I was involved in all aspect of TV and radio broadcasting operations, including managing satellite capacity and the sourcing and management of service providers. Highlights of my time in this role include launching the satellite operation desk for Al ARABIA news channel. I established operation centres in over 50 countries around the world, trained newly hired operation staff, and set up the satellite booking systems. I also created a business model and workflow for the group news gathering operation.- Managing the group satellite DTH network took critical planning and was essential in order to deliver on key targets such as controlling the DTH cost while rapidly expanding and keeping up with the group new launches (often a new TV or Radio service every 6-10 months). The result was a more unified, optimised DTH capacity, with cost savings of no less than 90 millon USD over a decade of operating the group satellite DTH network.- One key project involved transforming this highly efficient and far reaching content distribution network into a commercial model, serving the external client rather than just serving the group’s internal departments. I had an immense success, with an immediate take up from hundreds of media companies. We took an internal department and transformed it into a service provider called Middle East News (MEN), utilising investments into existing assets and human resources. The task was massive and involved managing various aspects of the business, from technology interconnectivity to human resource training for operations and client servicing, to managing budgets and revenues with a multi-million dollar turnover, (net income to the group in the first 18 months of operations).
