I am passionate about the coordination of scientific programs to ensure they have long-term impact and success. I believe that programs which bring the scientific community together the key to solving the large science challenges we are currently facing. To achieve this I want to support these programs through clear and effective leadership and coordination, including development and continuation of clear strategic directions, effective stakeholder engagement, and communication strategies. I am also passionate about contributing to, and communicating the importance of the world’s oceans, and the impact of climate change on ocean ecosystems.

Phd StudentInstitute Of Marine And Antarctic Studies, University Of Tasmania Dec 2015 - Nov 2019Hobart, Tasmania"Effects of ocean acidification on Antarctic microbial communities"Investigated the effects of ocean acidification on the associations among nearshore Antarctic marine microbes using data collected during a mesocosm experiment at Prydz Bay, East Antarctica. Specifically, I collected, processed and analysed data using traditional microscopy techniques and phylogenetic marker gene sequencing (16S and 18S rDNA) to investigate the effect of increased CO2 on the bacteria, archaea and protistan community structure. These datasets were then combined to build an association network of the microbial community and understand how ocean acidification affects interactions between microbes.
