About Alycia Marshall, Ph.D.

As the Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Success at the Community College of Philadelphia, I oversee academic affairs, workforce development and student support/engagement areas. As a collaborative leader, I work with my team to eliminate equity gaps while supporting students and Philadelphia residents in meeting their goals and transforming lives. I started my career in higher education as an adjunct professor in the mathematics department at Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) in Maryland. I was later hired on as a full-time instructor and became a tenured, full professor and Mathematics Department Chair. I was an inaugural Mathematics Pathways Leadership Fellow (Charles A. Dana Center) and worked to support mathematics pathways statewide and nationally. At AACC, I was also the Principal Investigator of the Engineering Scholars Program, a National Science Foundation grant which provided scholarships and academic support to high achieving women and students of color in Engineering. In 2017, I was promoted to Associate Vice President of Learning and Academic Affairs/Accreditation Liaison Officer at AACC and later founded the African American Leadership Institute (AALI). AALI provides leadership development and mentorship to faculty and staff of color to diversify leadership and support succession planning efforts.
