Within 2 months I started my own jam business on Etsy and curated an eclectic inventory. I collaborated with other small business owners to expand my marketing and products to platforms such as Pinterest and Verago Handmade. You might ask, “How does this tie-in to fraud?” Well, I began to realize how these character traits of learning, adapting, innovating, and seeking challenges make me an ideal Fraud Specialist. One cannot be complacent in the field of fraud. Stagnation and the lack of forward progress will inevitably lead to a loss for companies, financial institutions, and consumers. Fraudsters and their techniques are always evolving; always finding new and slicker ways to sustain their criminal activities. Working in the fraud industry, you must evolve just as fast as the fraudsters. This means analyzing data for suspicious transactions, recognizing patterns, staying up to date on relevant trends, and learning about new technologies is a constant practice.Courage, compliance, ambition, goal setting, critical thinking, and personal/professional development are vital skills whether you are looking for fraudulent activities...or making jams.
