About Muhamad Aly Rifai, Md, Cpe

Dr. Rifai is a world-renowned, Multi Board-Certified Physician, Executive and Clinical Researcher with over 25 years of clinical training and experience in a unique spectrum of psychiatric, medical and substance use disorders. He earned an international reputation for pioneering research on the psychiatric aspects of Hepatitis C, and cemented his international reputation with work on brain stimulation and imaging, psychedelics and ketamine. In November 2022 Dr. Rifai was indicted by the United States Department of Justice for his early and pioneering work providing psychiatric services through telehealth since 2006. He was tried in May 2024 and a Jury acquitted him of all charges and found him NOT GUILTY. Dr. Rifai clinical and research training include a neuro psychopharmacology National Research Service award from the National Institutes of Health to study dopamine and norepinephrine signal transduction. Early in his combined residency training in internal medicine and psychiatry at the University of Virginia he was awarded the Janssen Scholarship for research on severe mental illness from the American Psychiatric Association. He was recognized for his research also with the National Institute of Mental Health Director Award. In 2003 he joined the Intramural Program at the National Institute of Mental Health in Bethesda, Maryland and participated in innovative and pioneering research on Ketamine and brain stimulation as well as neuro-imaging with near-infra red spectroscopy. In 2006 he continued his pioneering clinical work in psychiatry moving to Pennsylvania and establishing one of the leading emergency Telepsychiatry programs in the Nation. He was recognized for implementing evidence-based practices by utilizing emerging treatment methodologies. He was awarded the prestigious William Webb fellowship from the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine and the LEAD award from the American College of Physicians. Muhamad Aly Rifai, MD 's world renowned pioneering clinical work and research on the interface of Medicine and Psychiatry proved life-saving with the COVID-19 pandemic. His research and clinical work on Telepsychiatry allowed lives to be saved with the quick implementation of clinical care. His groundbreaking earlier work and research on Telemedicine, Brain Stimulation, psychotherapeutics and Psychedelics benefited humanity. He continues to be engaged in several cutting-edge initiatives, including; Psychedelics, Addiction Medicine, Brain Stimulation and telepsychiatry.
