Capital is commercial law firm based in Cardiff and London with a headcount of 150+, including c. 110 lawyers. As a corporate partner, Corporate & Commercial team leader and member of Operating Board, I initiated and drove a number of key strategies resulting in a period of significant growth.►Team turnover doubled and headcount tripled (23 lawyers in 2020) over a 5-year period, resulting in the largest team of corporate and commercial lawyers in Wales and the only Welsh firm ever to have been nominated in any category in the Real Deal Private Equity Awards (Regional Law Firm of the Year in 2019 and 2020)►Built own practice from scratch, culminating in being recognised by the Legal 500 UK 2020 as a leading corporate and commercial lawyer - the only woman in Wales so identified►Acted for a number of PE and VC funds, including WestBridge Capital, Cairngorm Capital, NCL Technology Ventures and the Development Bank of Wales on investments ranging from <£500k to £30m►Supported management teams of businesses across a range of sectors backed by a variety of PE funds (including Primary Capital, FPE Capital, Synova Capital, YFM Equity Partners and BGF) by demystifying private equity, guiding them through the equity fundraising process and offering strategic and personal advice on how to get the best out of their relationship with their investor►As partner responsible for trainee solicitors (2017-18), ensured Capital can recruit and retain the best and most diverse graduates by introducing best practice in terms of trainee recruitment and management

I advised funds, corporates and financial institutions on high profile domestic and cross-border investments, M&A, joint ventures, company restructurings and general company law, including leading the corporate team on Blackstone’s £1bn refinancing and reorganisation of Center Parcs and acting for Walgreens on its acquisition of a 45% stake in Alliance Boots.

I provided in-house legal, regulatory compliance and risk management support to partners and members of staff of A&O globally. I played a key role (working closely with the Senior and Managing Partners and General Counsel) in A&O's restructuring in February 2009 which saw a reduction in the global headcount of 9% and the divesting of its private client business.

I led and managed the dedicated HR support team for A&O’s (then) 240 trainee solicitors; provided coaching and mentoring to many of the trainees.
