In 2016, Country Music Week and the CCMA Awards Show took place in London, ON for the very first time, and we were thrilled to reflect on it as a huge success! My duties largely remained the same (see the full position described in the first job post below), as I was responsible Canadian-wide radio partnerships, both internal and external communications for the organization like membership newsletters and press releases, as well as event planning and social media. Among other things, I was also responsible for more member communication blasts, CCMA website upkeep, scheduling radio activations throughout Country Music Week, sat on a panel of jurors for the Awards and Balloting program, and contributed to content management and editing of the Country Music Week Souvenir Program and Pocket Guide (essentially full event programs and information pamphlets for the week). And, how amazing to have worked on the CCMA Green Carpet and Media Room with a fantastic PR team (penelope PR), dealing with various Print, Radio and TV media outlets, escorting artists and running interviews behind the show!I was very honored to have worked with this organization not once, but twice and become part of the CCMA family.

Worked alongside the Associate Director of Executive Communications to manage the communications portfolio of UWaterloo President Feridun Hamdullahpur. This entailed managing social media accounts, managing and updating website content, and most prominently, assisting in speech writing for the President’s Office. I was involved in many projects in this regard, from typical University celebrations, to annual events like International Women’s Day and HeForShe initiatives, and even a welcome address to Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau when he paid a visit to the Waterloo campus. I was also lucky enough to be involved in a very special project with our team and President Hamdullahpur - check out the video link below to see the final product!

One of the most rewarding experiences in my professional career thus far, has easily been working with the Canadian Country Music Association. It was amazing to be an integral part of a small, yet powerful team that annually produces Country Music Week and The Canadian Country Music Awards Show. I worked closely with the Communications Lead, Sonya Koson, and together we were responsible for all ongoing professional communications within organization. I had the opportunity to be a part of both internal and external communications, including; writing inwardly for our large membership base, crafting and editing multiple press releases for the public, building relationships with radio partners across Canada, meeting and interacting with all publicists for the artists, and was also in charge of the entire social media landscape for the organization.Additionally, I was involved in event planning for certain events during Country Music Week down in Halifax, NS (including the Red Carpet, Kick-Off and Radio events), responsible for speech writing for members on our Board of Directors, and finally, ran the Paid Distribution program, bringing in significant profits for the CCMA.Experience aside, I was privileged enough to work in the incredible industry that is Canadian Country Music, familiarize myself within the larger Canadian music landscape, and also be involved in a not-for-profit workplace.
