I have worked in small, medium and large companies setting up services and improving standards and profitability within already operational organisations. I understand funding issues and budget pressures within healthcare environments particularly at inception and at points of expansion or service development. I have worked closely with public sector funding teams to understand how budgets are scrutinised and controlled whilst operating services that are compliant with legislation, efficient, safe and profitable for the independent sector. As a clinician I am able to understand the necessity to deliver key aspects of care whilst managing financial targets. I have been able to operate services creatively, to facilitate rapid changes in service design and structure, to make efficiency savings and to work closely with commissioners to provide solutions for the public funding authorities.

I have worked in specialist services providing high quality, highly individualised care packages. My key skills have been in developing ways of working that extend the effectiveness of the service within the existing resource. I have been heavily involved in service development projects within the public sector that have depended on meeting financial targets. I understand the financial issues presented in healthcare from a clinical and managerial perspective, in the public and private sector.
