I’m an accomplished and recognized leader in research and innovation with extensive experience uniting academia, industry, and government to advance impactful research initiatives. Currently serving as the Interim Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation at NC State University, I oversee the research enterprise, focusing on continued research growth, enhancing infrastructure and administrative efficiency, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration that positions NC State as a leader in discovery.With a strong background in data science and national security research, I established NC State’s Data Science Academy, an initiative that drives data literacy and research across campus. I served as the principal investigator for the Laboratory for Analytic Sciences, securing funding to support collaborative research to solve operational problems in defense and security. My strategic partnerships with entities such as Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and the Department of Defense have strengthened NC State’s research footprint and enabled innovative research solutions in critical areas.A Fellow of both the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Statistical Association, I have earned accolades like the ASA Section on Statistics in Defense and National Security Distinguished Achievement Award and the Army Wilks Memorial Award, recognizing impactful contributions to analytics and national security. Serving on 15 National Academies committees, I am a thought leader committed to advancing multidisciplinary research that addresses complex challenges.With prior leadership roles at Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Institute for Defense Analyses, my depth of experience drives my commitment to advancing NC State’s research mission and achieving innovations that benefit society.
