Welcome to my LinkedIn page! My name is Alyssa Basch and I am a recent graduate from American University with a B.A. in International Studies. My academic areas of interest include environmental sustainability, global health, human rights, international law, global governance, legal studies, and US foreign policy. In December 2023, I completed my capstone with the Global Criminal Justice Office of the State Department, in which I collaborated with students to research the impacts of climate change on genocide in Africa.Outside of the classroom, I have been heavily involved in student organizations and community service. As President of American University’s Climate Reality, I lobbied senators to adopt sustainability initiatives and organized a panel for students to learn how to incorporate climate consciousness into their careers. I also served as Philanthropy Chair and Professional Development Chair of the Sisterhood for International Engagement, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and providing support to vulnerable communities across the globe.As I now begin my career outside of American University, I seek a dynamic, collaborative, and challenging environment to refine my skills as a young professional. In particular, I am seeking for jobs related to government affairs, foreign policy, environment, health, and human rights. My academic and professional experience has equipped me to work with policy issues stemming across the U.S., Africa, East Asia, and Europe.
