I developed a research project to explore aphantasia, a neurological difference first identified by Adam Zeman in 2015, which involves the complete absence of mental imagery and exists on a spectrum, with hyperphantasia representing highly vivid mental imagery. This variability in visual imagery generation led me to investigate its implications for human behavior and cognition. My project examines how the vividness of visual imagery affects cognitive functions such as memory, executive functions, workplace creativity, and overall cognitive performance. Based on prior research, I hypothesize that individuals with poor visual imagery may face disadvantages in specific areas of memory and executive functioning.
