As a communications intern with The ONE Campaign I worked directly under the U.S./Canada Press Secretary of the office. I performed various tasks such as monitoring media on foreign policy and global health, creating press contact lists for different states, congressional districts, and topics, helping edit and write media advisories and press lists, and keeping track of news clips and media mentions. Through this role I was able to become proficient in Cision's media monitoring and journalist finding functions. I am most proud of the contributions I made to the @ONEInAmerica Twitter account while scheduling and posting tweets using Tweet Deck.

In addition to managing 17 students for the class Understanding Sex and Gender, I was also in charge of 6 other Peer Mentors. I made sure they were all on track throughout the semester with their co-curricular activities for their classes and had weekly check-ins with the director of the Complex Problems department.

-Welcomed admitted first-year students to the university -Facilitated discussion about sexual violence awareness and drug and alcohol awareness, and diversity and inclusion -Facilitated conversation on transition issues-Role modeled appropriate academic and social behaviors to first-year students-Presented information to groups of students

In this role, I managed a class of 17 first-year students in the class Confronting Climate Change for a semester. I built relationships with museums, facilities on campus, and embassies for the three co-curricular activities I created for the students to supplement their learning in the classroom. While planning I also had to maintain a budget of $250. I was able to work directly with my professor on the implementation of these activities.

As an intern for the public relations department at Voice of America, I had a hands-on role from the beginning. I went to events sponsored by Voice of America and wrote articles about them on insidevoa.com and drafted social media content for Facebook and Twitter. I wrote and edited biographies of authors who work/ed at Voice of America and conducted research on the diaspora communities in the United States that were a part of the over 40 languages Voice of America served. Additionally, I gave studio tours for large groups of domestic and foreign students and officials.

As a communications intern for CCDP I held various responsibilities and was given several different tasks including:-Building a media contact list from scratch-Making social media promotional graphics -Monitoring the Constant Contact subscription list for continuous bounces-Writing press releases that went out to over 4000 people on our email lists-miscallaneous office tasks
