Highly organized, energetic, and detail-oriented professional with several years experience in training, advising, and support roles, including college teaching, compliance reporting, and workforce training. In 2018, I turned my focus to Affordable Care Act compliance and found a niche that allows me to be equal parts detective, advisor, reporting expert, and customer service specialist. I am passionate about supporting business owners, HR professionals, consultants, and insurance brokers as they navigate Affordable Care Act compliance and reporting. I enjoy the challenge of discovering the specific elements of business-, employee-, and plan- design that affect ACA regulation and reporting and translating that into straight-forward, actionable explanations for business decision-makers.Some highlights from the last year include: reducing penalty exposure for a client from over 600 employees to fewer than 10, helping a client reduce administrative oversight of ACA implementation by 40+ hours per month, catching errors in completed 1095-C forms that could have resulted in tens of thousands of dollars, correcting the benefit parameters in a software system so the system would produce accurate 1095-C forms, and saving clients thousands of dollars and over 500+ hours of work associated with compiling, coding, reporting, and correcting 1095 forms. Before jumping into the business world, I taught college writing for 8 years while completing my Master’s and PhD in Rhetoric and Composition and Communication. My areas of interest included teaching, research writing, and theory. Even more than content, my time in school taught me skills of initiative, discipline, and follow-through. I finish what I start, and I don’t back down from a challenge. School also taught me how to read long, complicated and wordy (i.e. boooring) reports that enabled me to read, translate, and work through the Federal Register and other legal documents in my capacity as a business consultant and advisor. I am a dedicated scholar and professional, but I love a good joke and don’t take myself too seriously. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, crafting, and going to the beach.
