Prepares patient tissue sample for routine histology procedures in the way of receiving, accessioning, labeling, dictating, staining, sectioning, and processing. Operates and maintains processing machine to ensure appropriate fixation, dehydration, clearing, and paraffin-infiltrated sections. Performs gross examination and used dictation equipment to produce a gross description of all relevant specimen information. Dissects specimens and prepares tissue for histologic processing using scalpel, forceps, and ruler to measure and cut tissue. Maintains storage and disposal of tissue in accordance with the Chemical Hygiene Plan. Maintains integrity of the specimen and patient identification. Directly interacts with pathologists and collaborates with others to ensure optimal work processes and workflow. Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations. Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work area. Assists in training new employees.
