I started working at Stantec as a Project Controls summer student in the Oil and Gas industry. This position gave me the opportunity to work within a strong team while executing my own client reports. My job duties included using Microsoft Excel and Oracle to forecast, update, and send weekly and monthly cost reports for a variety of different clients, while keeping in contact with the project managers to include any changes. It was my responsibility to make sure any errors or issues in these reports were worked out in a quick and timely fashion. I have been able to enhance my problem solving and communication skills, as well as my Microsoft Excel skills as I worked with this program every day. Further responsibilities and duties included:- Tracked and highlighted procurement report changes- Ensured integrity of processes impacting project success by validating source data.- Updated project hours expended to date, and hours used weekly for engineering services.- Approved project scope internal trend requests and external change requests.- Maintained effective relationships with Project Managers to determine their exact requirements for project report specifics, such as budgets and cost estimates to completion.
