HR is not the Villain.After watching the office and observing how Toby the HR Manager was perceived by the Dunder Mifflin employees, I can admittedly say that HR was not at the top of my career list!But after landing my first HR job 10 years ago, I learned that the role of HR is much more than just enforcing dress code policies and stocking the kitchen with the best snacks and cold brew to improve culture. It is a strategy and the foundation that acts as the glue that holds a company together. As an HR professional, I am enthusiastic about helping boost businesses and employees.Even though I started my career pursing my passion as a fitness specialist, it was an easy transition into HR. Fortunately, I have been able to maintain dual careers as an HR Professional and a fitness professional. What helps motivate me is the opportunity to have an impact on people's lives through both the workplace, and in the gym. I naturally gravitate towards opportunities that are challenging and rewarding. Not only does this play a big factor in my career choices but also my hobbies such as Golfing. One of the most compelling things about golf is the quest for the unattainable ,the knowledge that more is always possible. Perseverance, determination, self-belief, positivity – these are good and strong attitudes that golf draws out of us.I feel accomplished and fulfilled by my careers, achieving each goal I've set for myself, but my favorite job has been raising my daughter to be kind, think of others, have an opinion but stay open minded, celebrate other women and do not let fear be the reason to stop you from doing something.

As an HR leader, I look forward to contributing to the success of my organization by focusing on three major things 1. Being an experienced centric organization- treating the employee experience in the same way that a sophisticated marketing team such as apple would treat its customers. Looking at the total employee experience, and using technology to make a more seamless, fluid interaction for the employees that's more frictionless.2. Using people analytics and strategic workforce planning to help my organization face the talent war that is happening. With being able to work anywhere and everywhere external opportunities are endless. So we need to focus on retaining talent and creating internal opportunities.3.Maintaining the hybrid working environment that has introduced, a more adult-to-adult form ofinteraction, as opposed to the parent-child world.Overall, I think we can all agree, HR is being asked to in a really meaningful way today to help organizations attract, retain and grow talent. At MIT technology review we are looking forward and are continuing to adapt to new demands. -
