Alyssa is a doctoral candidate in the Human Movement Science Curriculum at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Working under the direction of Dr. Brian Pietrosimone, she conducts research in the areas of lower-extremity biomechanics with an emphasis on knee mechanics following ACL injury and reconstruction. She has special interests (1) in creating a gait retraining regimen to improve outcomes of articular cartilage health following ACL injury and reconstruction and (2) validating wearable devices to make the analysis of mechanics valid and reliable in a real-world setting. Alyssa previously completed her BS and MS in Exercise Sciences at Brigham Young University. She is an affiliated member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), American Society of Biomechanics (ASB), Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) and Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE).
