About Alyssa Jacobson
I’m a BS Biomedical Engineering student at MSOE, graduating in May 2025. I have diverse team–based internship and project experience. I also devote 15 – 20 hours a week as a student-athlete on the softball team and as President of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC). Skills in SOLIDWORKS, MATLAB, NI Multisim, and C. I am looking for a Biomedical Engineering full time position after graduation. Please contact me at alyssajacobson22@gmail.com or (920) 382 – 9282. Growing up, I always enjoyed my math and science courses. In high school, I took many STEM courses. One of my teachers was a previous engineer and inspired me to follow engineering. Since then, I was sure I wanted to be an engineer. The next step was figuring out the type of engineer. Many family members of mine were in the medical field, and I was interested in making a difference in someone’s life. When I discovered Biomedical Engineering, I found “the one”.MSOE became my home away from home. I created amazing friendships and blossomed in the classroom. I’ve done many projects in groups including an ECG Project Design, a Tron Snake Game Coding Design, and an Electronic Blood Pressure Design. My favorite one was the Electronic Blood Pressure Design. The project problem was to design a front end of an electronic blood pressure using circuitry devices learned including diodes, operational amplifiers, and filters. This allowed creative freedom in the design for myself and my partner. Outside of MSOE I also explored my engineering capabilities. I had an internship in the summer of 2023 for Res Manufacturing as a Manufacturing Engineer. Although this had me step outside my comfort zone, I discovered my interest in design. I had three projects that emphasized design using SOLIDWORKS. I designed a new quality gage to ergonomically improve the existing one and created gage add–ons to improve efficiency. I also designed a grate ramp to remove excess tumbling media from parts and transport them into a final shipping location. Lastly, operator efficiency was increased by creating and installing an accuracy aid in part placement in and out of the welding machine. My on-campus experience is not all academics. Much of my time is spent with the varsity softball team. Being on the team has taught me many skills like leadership, time management, and determination. I am also a team representative in SAAC. I attend weekly meetings and advocate for student-athletes in decisions for the school. The committee also encourages community involvement and support of various athletic events on campus.
