CurrentFormulates and administers comprehensive public health programs based on needs and available resources. Makes recommendations to and consults with the board of supervisors on general policies and procedures, goals, and proposals and methods of service delivery for public health and clinical care programs. Rowan County Health Department serves all 146,000 Rowan residents with clinical services: maternal, adult, child, immunization, laboratory, pharmacy, communicable disease, family planning, and STI/STD services; environmental health services: food and lodging and onsite wastewater; WIC - nutrition prescription program; Care Management: High Risk Pregnancy and At-Risk children, Children's dental services, Substance Use - post-overdose response team, and Health Promotion - addressing community solutions for healthy living. Rowan County Public Health employees a staff of 85 public health professionals and maintains a budget of over $9 million annually from federal, state, county, and philanthropic sources.
