My name is Alyssa Luongo and I have earned my Bachelors of Social Work (BSW) degree from Champlain College. Throughout my time at Champlain, I explored many different courses of study before choosing to pursue social work. The Arts have always been an area of passion for me, and so I spent some time majoring in creative media at Champlain as well. Creating and experiencing art has always been an important part of my life which influences how I view the world. Focusing in Social Work during my undergraduate studies, gave me a unique perspective on how the arts can enhance the experience of children and adults alike. I believe that art can be an integral and transformative tool in social work practice and I am passionate about the implementation of this in schools, hospitals, etc. I completed a year-long internship with the non-profit Inclusive Arts Vermont where I was able to experience their integrative school residency programs based in social and emotional learning (SEL). This internship allowed me to experience and participate in the integration of social work and the arts in a practical way and I aim to do more work like this in the future.
