Special Education Teacher
Current• Design and facilitate a standards-aligned curriculum in whole class, small groups, and individually for generaleducation and special education students in the integrated co-teaching classroom• Collaborate and co-teach with General Education co-teacher in a variety of co-teaching models (parallel learning,one teach/one assist, stations, centers, alternate teaching, etc,)• Utilize a wide range of curricula including iReady Math, Wilson Fundations, Fountas & Pinnell, Heggerty PhonemicAwareness and Secret Stories (based on the Science of Reading)• Differentiate and modify supports, instruction, activities, and assessment to support all students’ learning needs• Lead small groups including centers and strategy groups• Adhere to Individualized Education Program (IEP) accommodations, modifications, and goals• Use flexible and ongoing assessments to evaluate students to ensure they were meeting their IEP goals• Analyze data collected from a range of assessments, using data to plan and form small groups• Manage whole class behavior and individual behavior with positive praise, token economy systems, and rewards,including those with daily behavior charts• Manage and collaborate with a Paraprofessional in the classroom• Communicate proactively with families (especially special education students) to discuss IEP accommodations andother school-wide events, progress, and any concerns• Host Annual Review meetings to discuss the children’s IEPs for the upcoming school year
