As a founding director for the Girl Icon Program @ Milaan I continue to amplify the incredible work that the Milaan Foundation team continues to do from India and the US.

Supervisor – Dr. Steven Neuberg, Ph.D. with Neuberg-Kendrick Evolutionary Social Psychology Lab• Helped troubleshoot creating new materials and new procedures for Zoom trials• I piloted two surveys that are part of an ongoing study about how people read threats of sexual advances. One is a replication study on women who are primed with threat.• Coding and narrative qualitative analyses of a dataset on social exclusion• I piloted one survey on maternal uncertainty and genetic testing and another for a post-doctorate, Dr. Michael Barlev, on the implications of race and identity related to illness as part of an NSF grant related to COVID 19 research. This last study focused on stereotypes about illness and fine cognitive processes that are involved in how we access threats.• Piloted further tests on affordance testing and what characteristics groups are looking for in their members. Additional study on social exclusion and signals in-groups give to problematic members. This was followed up by a metastudy on the interpretation of thisstudy.• Continue to review and test several surveys that are then used on Prolific and on undergraduate students for the lab for time and types/errors.• Conducted research trials over Zoom on a weekly lab.• Completed literature reviews on topics ranging from righteous indignation to affordance management to AI in evolutionary social psychology.• Contributed research, input, and reviews to weekly lab meetings.• Presentation to lab on affordance management in and on threat bias.

Supervisor/PI: Dr. Jason Okonofua, Ph.D. with Equity, Diversity, and Empathy Navigation Sciences Lab• Collected study participant data from over 850 schools across the US.• Check and correct the work of other RA’s work as needed for research on diversity in schools.• Lead on a project on preschool implicit bias and collected contact information participant data from 350 schools.• Drafted literature reviews, abstract backgrounds, and created a structure as head of a project on silent suspension to collect the data from preschools.• Wrote over 30 literature reviews on adolescent development, agency, and positive peer influence to be used in a research article.• Reviewed PhD research proposals at weekly lab meeting.

Worked with Organizational/Business Psychology graduate students to design and analyze a longitudinal study on discrimination and prejudice related to data collected from multiple sources.

In 2015, we received 2,000 applications from girls across Uttar Pradesh, India. To date, we have received 15,000 from across the states of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.Rajni from Sitapur District bikes 60 km to school every day. Vandana was the first in her village to go to school and fought to educate her sisters even while her father planned her marriage. Gazella works to eradicate purdah in her community and follows her dreams to become a dancer despite the stigma.Each of these girls represents one of our Girl Icon Fellows. An agent of change, working with their peers, to create more inclusive and equal societies.Girl Icon Fellows work on strengthening access to quality education, giving girls a voice, and transforming society for adolescent girls internationally. Our core program is currently conducted in India where we work with girl changemakers from marginalized backgrounds who are seeking to raise their voices to create a more inclusive world, but we are incorporated as a 501(c)3 in Chicago, USA.

Milaan was started in 2007 by a group of youth attending Delhi University with the mission to Educate, Enable, and Empower youth from marginalized communities.My role at Milaan transitioned from maintaining communications, partnerships, and fundraising internationally to designing, piloting and promoting the Girl Icons which I co-founded with Dhirendra Pratap Singh.

The Coalition for Adolescent Girls (CAG) is a member-led and driven organization dedicated to supporting, investing in, and improving the lives of adolescent girls. We drive new and improve existing programming, policies, and investments that promote the opportunities and rights of adolescent girls. CAG members envision, and strive toward, a world where adolescent girls are fully able to realize their rights, navigate challenges, and access opportunities during the transition from childhood to adulthood and beyond.

As a Communications and Curriculum Manager I developed curriculum and programs to be used by Anudip trainers, drove the coaching coordinators in English comprehension and speaking, and ensured quality assessment of ongoing Soft Skills training and communication.
