Throughout the duration of my education at the University of Minnesota Duluth, I have gained experience in program planning, proposal writing, program implementation, and evaluation. I have also gained introductory experience in health coaching. My Public Health Education and Promotion BAS has adequately prepared me for entering the field of health education. Included in my education, I have gained experience with Microsoft Office, Word, and PowerPoint, as well as with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator). I have also gained experience working as a teaching assistant for Instructor Karen Skrbich in the Public Health Education and Promotion Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth. This job required great organization skills and attention to details. I worked mostly independently, which required time management, troubleshooting and problem solving. During my internships at St. Luke's Hospital and the wellness office at the College of St. Scholastica, both in Duluth, MN, I gained experience in program planning and implementation, team communication, time management and organization. I gained experience with health information technology in the form of data storage and management at St. Luke's Hospital. I also gained experience with health marketing at St. Scholastica.Currently, I am an AmeriCorps member serving as an Outdoor Educator, providing education and activity programming to youth ages 6-9 at Hartley Nature Center in Duluth, MN. This position involves program planning, teaching, and evaluating students. I recently became a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) through NCHEC.
