As a teaching assistant, my job is to aid journalism transfer students in the transition from community college to the university. My primary responsibility is to act as a useful resource to students throughout their first term at the SOJC. In addition to assisting the course instructor with grading assignments, I facilitate classroom icebreaker activities, organize group study sessions to encourage collaboration, and share my own experiences and perspectives as a former transfer student.

As a communications assistant, I conducted research and implemented strategies for raising overall awareness of student conduct. My regular duties included: brainstorming effective ways of reaching out to students, contacting other universities to learn what outreach methods they saw as most affective, and distilling the information into ideas of execution.

During my internship, I assisted in the planning of internal and external company events, wrote blog articles, created and distributed press releases, and participated in various volunteer activities with nonprofit organizations. In addition to my regular duties, I also assisted with Unitus’ largest annual fundraiser, Wine on the Willamette, which raises funds for Dorenbecher Children’s Hospital.

I worked at the front of a fast growing company that provides prepaid cellular services to over 4.8 million subscribers in the United States. As a sales associate, I provided assistance to customers in the selection and purchase of wireless products and services. My regular duties included: opening and closing the store, matching products to customer needs, accepting merchandise and bill payments, and resolving customer service issues relating to phone bills, equipment, products and services

Gained valuable experience managing in a team-oriented environment. Oversaw all functional areas of the restaurant to ensure customer needs were met both quickly and efficiently. As a supervisor, my daily responsibilities included: opening and closing the store, delegating tasks to a crew, cash control, and monitoring labor vs. sales reports. In addition to my regular duties, I also assisted in creating the employee schedule as well as facilitating inventory counts.
