As a health psychologist with the Cardiac Behavioral Medicine team, I am responsible for advanced heart failure pre-surgical psychosocial evaluations for transplant and mechanical circulatory support (VAD) candidates. I work with patients with advanced heart failure, who require cardiac surgery, and/or other cardiac conditions to assess and address psychosocial risk factors such as stress, mood issues, eating behaviors, and treatment adherence. I work with both inpatients and outpatients and support individuals who are struggling with mood or adjustment post-operatively, or who are going through and/or adjusting to advanced heart failure treatments. I also hold a faculty appointment through Northwestern's Feinberg School of Medicine, where consistent with my interests in culturally-adapted interventions and health disparities, I am involved in medical education with an emphasis on diversity, inclusion, and culturally competent and humble communication. I serve as co-chair of the Department of Surgery Diversity Committee.

APA accredited post-doctoral fellowship in Health Psychology with an emphasis in medical education. Clinical experiences include consultation/liaison psychiatry, integrated primary care (family and internal medicine clinics), specialty medicine (bariatrics, oncology, diabetes management), and medical student and resident education. Research and quality improvement projects are also a key aspect of the position.

Health Psychology intern in fulfillment of the APA clinical internship requirement. The Louis Stokes Cleveland VAMC is an APA accredited internship. Rotations completed include inpatient psychiatry, oncology and hospice, cardiology and organ transplant, and pain management.

Contract evaluation work for the Alianza team to improve and develop surveys focused on substance use and abuse among Latino youth in Mecklenburg county.

Respond to students questions, cover material with students, proctor exams, assist students with writing and other assignments.

Individual and group therapy

Coaching girls in female empowerment and body love through the GOTR curriculum, as well as supporting them in setting and reaching running goals as they train for the end of season 5K.

Conducted individual and group therapy with inpatients, outpatients, family members, and caregivers. Assisted in conducting bone marrow transplant evaluations, as well as consultations for psychological support services.

Served as a representative of the graduate student population by establishing relationship with students, faculty and administration across campus. Was responsible for developing and facilitating events for graduate students, including: a wellness open house, and a panel for women seeking career success.

Provided support and guidance to students enrolled in numerous undergraduate Spanish classes, with a particular focus on grammar and sentence structure.

Conducted individual and group therapy. Groups facilitated included: CBT for anxiety, DBT for adolescents, Seeking Safety, and Substance Abuse-Moderate.

Kept and organized executive board and senate meeting notes. Collected and organized organization's volunteer hours and attendance in order to communicate requirements to maintain organizational charters.

Provided samples of products, most often 3-5 salad dressings. Shared with customers the ingredients, how the product was made, the story behind the company, and recipe ideas.

Facilitated class activities in a camp-like setting for students both after school and during summer camps.
