I am a semester 5 clinical nursing student with over 2 years of clinical experience in medical-surgical units, pediatrics, maternal health, critical care, geriatric nursing, and oncology. I have a great passion for working with children, and I currently have the unique opportunity of living out that passion by working at CHOC Children's Hospital. As a clinical associate at CHOC, I have practiced various skills such as taking vital signs, communicating observations to the nurse, documenting on Cerner and Epic, and other basic nursing skills. I also had the fantastic opportunity to have a preceptorship at CHLA in the NICCU. Working one-to-one with a nurse over 11 shifts allowed me to grow in my knowledge and skill of what it takes to be a critical care nurse for neonates and infants. I developed my communication skills, time management, and attention to detail while critically thinking about the nursing care I provide to my patients based on their diagnoses and needs. This December, I expect to graduate with my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Biola University and look forward to applying to new graduate nursing residencies on pediatric units in 2024.
