I have been trained in CLIA certified and CAP accredited laboratories working in both sterile BSL-2 and BSL-3 environments in vitro in cell culture and in vivo in mice and ferrets. I have experience working with various infectious viruses as well as being approved to work with Select Agents. I am skilled in working with irreplaceable and sensitive samples from patients to be used in an array of both virology assays and genetic testing. Apart from my skills in the laboratory I am quite proficient in utilizing computer systems for documentation and maintaining laboratory inventory through Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Access. Regarding Access specifically, I designed an entire database to maintain information for all viral strains and their respective lots in the inventory ranging from growth information and sequence status to up to 6 different assay specific titers for each individual lot.
