I am pleased to be continuing my work at Polycast on a part-time basis. I look forward to completing projects begun during the summer as well as take on new opportunities. Some additional projected completed since the summer include:• Designed and assembled a tooling storage solution to reduce setup time and tool wear• Designed insulation for press equipment to reduce heating costs and improve safety• Calibrated and tuned PID temperature controllers as part of an ISO 9001 quality system• Developed and implemented a Kanban system for a new, high-volume consumables

At Polycast International I reported directly to the Process Engineer. This role saw me supporting and improving manufacturing operations by working on various projects:• Modified an existing machine to process a wider range of materials, thus eliminating manual work, reducing process variability, and improving efficiency• Used spaghetti diagrams, time studies, data analysis, and stakeholder input to improve the plant layout of a growing department which minimized waste, accommodated new equipment, and increased overall efficiency• Facilitated communication between shop-floor personnel and the engineering team to implement better solutions throughout process improvement initiatives• Tracked throughput data in a spreadsheet to provide a summary of project progress, as well as provide greater insight for capacity planning• Researched and implemented ergonomic lifting equipment as part of an accident prevention initiative to improve operator safety• Conducted and documented destructive testing to determine root cause of part defects• Designed and implemented a new brazing fixture with feedback from all stakeholders• Created work instruction documentation for epoxy dispensing equipment• Investigated root cause of laser cutter malfunction and replaced faulty components• Modified wire stripping equipment to reduce operator skill and improve process quality• Conducted make-or-buy analysis of a part to verify the feasibility of outsourcing

I was a member of the UMSAE Polar Air student design team, specifically as an Undercarriage Team Member. The Undercarriage section is responsible for designing, testing, and manufacturing the landing gear portion of the plane.So far, my role has involved the following:-Receiving shop training and practice for a myriad of saws, a belt sander, a drill press, and a mini-mill, among other tools-Utilizing Topology Optimization in SolidWorks to identify ways to reduce the weight of the Main Gear while still meeting strength and stiffness requirements-Coordinating in-kind sponsorship with other UMSAE teams-Aiding in the manufacturing of a full-scale plane prototype

During the Winter 2022 Semester, I completed the Operational Excellence course (ENG4110) at the University of Manitoba. This course taught Lean Six Sigma at a green belt-level and this knowledge was applied to a process improvement project at Elmer's Manufacturing.I, along with a team of students, worked with industry participants and operators to identify the root causes of a bottleneck manufacturing process.By using tools such as the Quality Journal, Control Charts, Fault Tree Diagrams, and Process Flow Charts, the team was able to identify several sources of waste whose elimination meant a projected 15.7% decrease in cycle time for the bottleneck process.

As Head Director of Corporate Relations for UMES, I was responsible for planning and executing the acquisition of sponsorship funds for the various directorships within UMES. I, along with three other students, verified the funding requirements of each directorship and reached out to numerous companies to secure funding. Excellent communication and leadership skills were necessary to ensure that the team was working efficiently, directorships received their event funding in time, and sponsorship deliverables for companies were upheld.

At Magellan Aerospace Winnipeg I was a part of the process engineering team. This role saw me supporting manufacturing and quality assurance through a myriad of tasks, including:• Designed and conducted tests, based on an ISO test method, to measure the chemical resistance of disposable gloves and reported the findings to a multidisciplinary audience• Oversaw the periodic inspection of welders as part of the quality assurance system• Improved oven survey forms by automating calculations, which eliminated error sources• Streamlined autoclave loading forms to reduce operator error and increase efficiency• Prepared micrographs of metal alloy parts to track how processes affected grain size • Used Statistical Process Control tools to identify layup equipment needing maintenance• Tracked NADCAP compliance of internal instructions by using pre-audit checklists

My role as an R&D intern at Botanical PaperWorks revolved around improving seed paper drying processes by redesigning, prototyping, and testing new seed paper drying machines. This project produced paper dryers which were more efficient while requiring half the floor space of previous stations.This work was complemented with SR&ED reports written on the work done and SOP documents on the new paper drying stations.

My roles and responsibilities included providing customer service, generating deck and fence quotes, operating wood saws, and creating material orders for customers.
