In addition to my operational role, I had involvement in a number of projects at the Trust; I led on the development of a Values Based Recruitment iPad App, in order to reduce the paper involved in the recruitment process and reduce the time taken to recruit candidates.I also had involvement in HR planning for the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, which is the first of it's kind in the UK.

I undertook my final strategic placement of the NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme at Northumbria Healthcare - I was involved in a number of strategic projects, as well as my own Employee Relations area of responsibility within the Emergency Surgery and Elective Care Directorate. I was heavily involved in the development of Values Based Recruitment at the Trust: my key responsibilities included the development, co-ordination and delivery of roll-out training sessions to ensure that recruiting managers are competent in using this new method of recruitment.

In this two month 'flex-placement' I worked within in the Employment Unit, attending Employment Tribunals and discussing complex cases to identify strengths and weakness - this gave me an understanding of best Employee Relations practice and employment law implications.I also worked within the HR department, assisting with the development of a new graduate booklet and other recruitment tools, and had the opportunity to represent the Firm at a Graduate Law Fair.

My role involved the efficient and effective provision of a comprehensive Human Resources service to the Acute and Long Term Conditions care group, and to contribute to the enhancement of a high quality, responsive service to Managers within the Trust.
