Current- Oversees the library management system and library schedule after consultation with teachers and administrators - Maintains a well-balanced collection that aligns with school and district needsLibrary routines and procedures (for example, for circulation of materials, working on computers, and independent work) are seamless in their operation, with students assuming considerable responsibility for their smooth operation- Makes highly effective use of the physical environment, resulting in inviting book displays, excellent traffic flow, and adequate space devoted to innovative learning activities - Actively supports the researching, planning, and teaching projects which are an extension of classroom instruction to support district curricula that are in alignment with student learning outcomes, district goals, and state standards - Initiates collaboration with classroom teachers in the design of instructional lessons, and lesson extensions and locates additional resources from sources outside the school- Initiates opportunities to work and support students with their learning experiences - Keeps students highly engaged in enjoying literature, learning information literacy skills, and utilizing the library space for collaborative, creative, and reflective learning - Provides ongoing professional development opportunities and support for staff - Takes a leadership role with colleagues in ensuring there is no plagiarism or violation of copyright laws - Actively seeks out new resources from a wide range of sources to enrich the library- Uses current trends in literature and information technology to improve library services- Anticipates program needs, with teacher and administrator input, when preparing budgets and purchasing resources for the library collection- Provides library assistants with clear direction and understanding of their support role
