I am currently in the process of exploring an opportunity landscaping and designing garden spaces with a strong focus in native plants. Currently I am actively consulting with clients interested in creating spaces that provide a higher service to the surrounding ecosystem by promoting native flora and fauna. I customize designs and plantings with each client to appeal to their desires as well as provide a garden beneficial to wildlife. I really enjoy the design process of landscaping, working with the wide arrays of color, textures, and the finer details of the relationships of the plants amongst themselves and their environment.

I assist with daily operations of a local organic market farm. This includes daily chores, seasonal harvests, farmers markets, special events, and other operations. Coming from a family that was active in gardening, and raising animals, I am experienced and comfortable with most of the work on the farm.

As greenhouse assistant for Frostburg State, I was responsible for the general care of the collection of plants in the schools’s greenhouse. I routinely checked temperature and humidity controls, made sure the area was clean, watered, transplanted treated and fertilized plants, as well as assisting with student projects being conducted in the greenhouse.

Evergreen Heritage Center is an award winning education facility in western Maryland that conducts tours, programs, and events for thousands of students and visitors. As part of my Americorps service I worked in the greenhouses and outdoor gardens, worked with local 4-H students on garden projects, lead and assisted with educational workshops and public events. I also created a line of natural personal care products crafted from plants on the property to sell at sponsored events to raise funds for the facility.

I worked as a customer service representative with Aetna Medicare taking calls regarding insurance benefits, medical claims, billing, and prescription drugs for plan members. In order to resolve issues I would reach out to medical professionals, offices and other departments within the insurance company. I was required to keep up to date with all programs, Medicare laws, system software updates, and changes to members plans to provide correct and current information. In addition to plan benefits and regulations I also received training on customer service, policies, troubleshooting, and dealing with difficult calls because good customer relations is as important as providing correct information.

As a veterinary technician I received training on medical and clinical skills to aid in providing care to animals in routine or emergency situations. Duties I had included gathering patient information, taking vitals, drawing blood and taking samples for lab analysis, administering medications, setting IV’s, running lab equipment, taking and developing x-rays, assisting with surgeries, dental work, wound care, rehabilitative therapies, and animal restraint. I also worked in the office admitting and discharging patients, answering phones, making appointments, and filing records.
