I went over patients medical and surgical information to ensure that the patient doesn't have any items on her body that could damage the CT scan or inside her body that could either break from the CT scan or that could injure/kill the patient inside the scan. I looked at what types of scans were Ordered. If a patient needs contrast with a scan then I have to get a venipuncture kit and give the patient an IV before scan. If the patient does not require contrast then I escort the patient in the CT scan room. I get certain "coils" needed for area being scanned. I help the patient lay on the table and attach my coils properly to the examining body part. The radiologist told me how they wanted me to adjust the patients orientation and the equipment for them. I usually have to stuff pads and tie sheets, etc to keep the patient still and get the best image. I explain the rules to the patient, give her earplugs, and ensure she is comfortable. I made sure the coils were all plugged in. The radiologist spoke with the patient told her not to move at all. Once I got the approval from the radiologist to proceed I press a button that centers the area in question, then once centered, I push the button to slide the patient inside of the CT scan. I would then find the payment which belongs to the registration form. I then entered the payment type, information, and amount. After the stack of registration forms and payments are entered into the database I had to make sure all information was correct, no spelling errors, and that all of the money added correctly. Mistakes had to be fixed immediately. I would get stacks of licenses and enter in the license information into the database. I had to be able to type at a certain speed, at least 95 WPM (I can type 99+WPM) otherwise a supervisor would warn to type faster. I packed and sent outgoing mail as well as answered the phones. My dad and I would carpool Monday through Friday 8:30pm -5pm we never missed a day not even an hour of work. They had me doing some tasks with the mailing room, but mostly I was doing data entry in the licensing department.
