About Amanda Bertrand

J.R.R. Tolkien wrote, “Not all those who wander are lost.”After wandering on behalf of the United States Air Force for more than 30 years, I now wander for myself.I live, full-time, in a 43-foot recreational vehicle. This lifestyle allows me to change my backyard whenever I want to yet sleep in the same bed at the end of each day. This flexibility carries over into a new chapter of my professional life.I am interested in project-based work, in the public relations, communications or marketing fields which allow me to contribute to a mission or company as part of a team.My perspective as a transitioned service member and veteran is potentially valuable to the travel and outdoor industries. I’d like to be part of bringing these two demographics together in a more intentional way.My experience in law enforcement and the legal community have sharpened my “radar” to detect potential legal pitfalls when investigating new ideas and initiatives.I have organized meetings and events involving high-level executives within the Department of Defense which included parking/building access, speaker clearance and team building activities. I also set agendas and coordinated speakers to make relevant presentations.I embrace technology and was charged with developing content on the Air Force Connect app. I also moved an entire career field’s guidance to an online knowledge platform. As an engaging public speaker and advocate, I was invited to make presentations across the country regarding Department of Defense programs such as the Transition Assistance Program, the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, and the Federal Voting Assistance Program. My Gallup, CliftonStrengths are:Individualization – I notice and appreciate the unique differences of each person and value customization.Woo – I enjoy the challenge of turning strangers into friends and am well-networked.Responsibility – I seek out opportunities to bring accountability to a team and meet deadlines. You can trust and count on me!Discipline – I appreciate and create order and structure. I thrive in an organized and structured environment.Restorative – “If there was a problem, yo, I’ll solve it!” – to quote Vanilla Ice. I am a fixer. Is there a place for me in your company or industry? I’d love to connect and have a conversation. Please contact me via email at agb2069@gmail.com, via text at 318-617-2069, or message me through LinkedIn.
