After completing my MPH, I accepted a position with the Georgia Department of Environmental Health as an Environmental Health Specialist I (EHS) for Chatham County. I work with a team of other EHS to ensure the enforcement of several environmental health programs to identify, prevent, and abate environmental conditions that adversely affect impact public health. These programs include food safety, tourist accommodations, pool safety, onsite waste management, rabies, tattoo parlors, and environmental complaints.

I educate customers on nutrition and supplements. If desired, I develop customized nutrition plans based on individuals lifestyle. I provide excellent customer service and maintain and clean, attractive store. In addition to working at the store, I also work promotional events around the community to market our products and services.

As a public health intern at Memorial Health Hospital I assisted residents, physicians, and medical students with research design and data analysis.

I worked with Dr. Adhikari, an associate professor, doing indoor air quality research. This involves searching for participants, visiting their home and setting up air collectors to take samples and administering a questionnaire.

I worked with Dr. Gipson (a professor in the Sports Management department) assisting her with data collection and entry, article searches and analysis, poster design, and writing a theoretical framework. I also completed any other tasks needed by other professors within the department. Some of these tasks included: data entry and editing scientific papers.

I served as a Student Senator for the College of Graduate Studies for one semester. During this time I interacted with graduate students to understand their concerns and I brought these concerns to senate meetings each week. Unfortunately, I was unable to continue serving as a student senator due to senate meetings being held during my class time.

As an allergy specialist, I worked in numerous primary care medical offices throughout southeast, GA where I raised awareness within the office and promoted immunotherapy as a form of treatment for allergy sufferers. I was able to identify good candidates by screening EMR systems for specific ICD-10 codes, verifying that they did not have an contraindications (certain medical conditions and medications). I notified providers of these patients and encouraged referral for allergy testing.I performed skin scratch allergy test on patients ages 2-70 to test for 48 environmental allergens specific to the geographical area. Correlated patient's results with the timing of their symptoms and educated them on immunotherapy. Using aseptic technique, I mixed immunotherapy medication based on patient formulary. Administered allergy shots to patients and educated them on how to perform this themselves. Also provided education on identifying allergic reactions and the actions to take, how and when to use an EpiPen, proper storage of medication, and when to schedule follow-up appointments.I left this position upon acceptance into Georgia Southern University's Graduate Program in order to further my education.
