As part of a unique but highly effective joint leadership model, I shared the CEO role with two other executive colleagues. Joint responsibility for leading the charity (a small to medium size national service delivery organisation) to achieve an ambitious strategy that met the changing needs and aspirations of deaf people in the UK.Key successes:• Stronger path to financial sustainability: achieved by efficiency measures that reduced the operating deficit by 51% (2018/19-2022/23), extensive organisation restructure and the development of four new services• Well supported and motivated staff team: strong team culture, collaborative working, rewards and recognition. Colleague turnover reduced by 45% (2019-2022)• Developed wellbeing and EDI strategies: 85% colleagues trained Mental Health First Aiders; RAD was the first deaf organisation to sign the Race At Work Charter• Established strong alliances and collaborative partnershipsIn addition to the shared CEO role, and as part of substantive executive responsibilities I retained strategic leadership on the following business areas: Communication Services, PR & Marketing, Community Engagement.Communication Services• Service strategy, direction and development • Quality assurance and monitoring of performance of freelance language service professionals• Contract and tenders (bid writing)• Service budget >£600k Community Engagement• Liaison with the Deaf Community • Networking and collaboration with external partners, including fundraising activity and profile raising with private and corporate supporters of the charity PR and Marketing• The writing and development of impact reports, new website (and content)• All external press releases, promotional materials • Branding and strategy (including a re-brand in 2022)• Implemented a fully inclusive approach to the charity’s PR and communications (all content accessible in English and BSL)• Achieved exceptional growth in terms of profile and reach

Key achievement: successful management of the strategy linked to RAD’s divestment of properties (that had a direct and significant impact on the community and was later reinvested into four new services that transformed the charity’s external perception and reputation).
