Like many Vet Med professionals I know, my journey in this field started long ago as a kennel assistant. I took the job because it paid (barely) above minimum wage, and I knew I loved animals. What could go wrong? 😁 Soon, I realized that I actually enjoyed getting up and going to work. That’s when I decided to change the trajectory of my education and career goals. 14 years later, I still love Vet Med. ❤️ During my career I have had the honor of working in many areas of medicine, including: academia, emergency/critical care, anesthesiology, laboratory animal medicine, and small animal general practice. My focus has now shifted into leadership, management, and professional development. In 2023 I completed an accounting degree - I hope to utilize this degree to obtain higher-level management positions and opportunities in the veterinary financial sector.My areas of interest in medicine are anesthesiology, dentistry, and emergency. My professional interests are in compassion fatigue, the human-animal bond, career burnout, emotional intelligence, and healthy communication. My favorite thing to do in life and in my career, is pour myself into others. I get the most job satisfaction out of seeing others succeed! ❤️ I have a particular fondness for mentoring veterinary technicians that have transitioned into leadership roles. I would love to one day become a professional speaker or author! My hobbies outside of work are playing video games and reffing roller derby! I have a corgi mix and a sassy old tabby cat at home.
